DIY ‘Here Comes the Bride’ Sign

Weddings are a dream to DIY brides like me who love to make pretty things but don’t have many occasions to do them. It’s almost time for my own wedding and I’ve been loving the idea of the ‘Here Comes the Bride’ sign floating all over Pinterest.  There are so many signs out there on Etsy but honestly, nothing is cuter (and more inexpensive) than a sign you can make yourself.

Here I’ve gone all out and attached a piece of white cardboard onto a fancy bulletin board from Target which I can reuse afterwards for its original purpose. If you skip this step, the heart-shaped cardboard with gold handwriting is still very cute and simple. Just add some ribbon to it and you have yourself a personalized and affordable sign for your flower girl and boy to carry down the aisle on your special day!

Wedding DIY

No matter how much you plan ahead, weddings still get crazy busy. In all the madness, I chose to squeeze in some DIY. Thanks to Pinterest and wedding sites like Style Me Pretty, I whipped up these pretty tissue pom poms to hang on the wooden fence at the venue.

Tips: Use fishing line or thread for hanging so it looks like the pom poms are floating.

Bonus: This is a great way to reuse tissue paper from all the shopping you’ve done!

DIY: Inexpensive Wall Art

A home doesn’t feel like home until if its walls are bare. I think it’s safe to say it’s universal. It’s not about having the latest and trendiest painting or photograph but rather surrounding yourself with things that remind you of the little joys in life. Not to say that I don’t enjoy the gorgeous design posts on Domino and The Glitter Guide every other day.  Problem is, many magazine-worthy homes are decorated with money, which is why I’ve been scouting for ideas on Apartment Therapy ever since I moved into my new digs in San Francisco.  If there was a website out there to all those dreamers out there who live in a small space with limited budgets, it’d be Apartment Therapy.

Every designer or designer-like home has at least several frames on the walls and your home deserves no less. Fortunately, Ikea sells stylish frames for much less than your typical Pottery Barn (even with it’s regular 30% off frames promo). I got this 11 1/2″ x 15 1/4″ Ribba Frame on sale for about $10. Print your own photo as a poster for under $10 with promotions either online or at your local drugstore.

Time to enjoy your own piece of art and show it off to friends and family!
